The suspected real reason for the Rio Movie

I'm guessing the main suspected real reason for the making of Rio and Rio 2 was to make people aware of the Spix macaw's criticial endagerment and Rio 2 was also made to increase awareness of the enviornmental distruction being done to the Amazon Rainforest.  I need to know does anyone have any other theories on why they made the film.  I'm ever so curious.
