Rio #3: A Dog's Tale is a canceled graphic novel that was going to be based on the story of Rio 2. The novel was supposed to be published by Papercutz on December 2, 2014[1]. Later, Papercutz announced that the graphic novel got canceled due to “creative differences”. Unlike the other books, Blu was not going to be the primary protagonist.
The novel would have followed Luiz's untold story, paralleled to that of Rio 2's. As his friends traveled from the city of Rio de Janeiro to the Amazon Rainforest, our bull-dog friend got left behind. However, in the end, he eventually regroups and unites with the rest of his friends. How does Luiz manage to travel 2000 miles from the urban city to the wild jungle? Or what obstacles or odds was he up against? It's a tale to be told for Luiz.[3]
