The Porcupine Game Announcer and Tapir Game Announcer are minor characters in Rio 2.
They provide commentary on the "air soccer" game at the Pit of Doom.

Biography[]

They commentate on the match between the Spix's Macaw Tribe and Red Macaw Tribe, using a small alcove that allows them to project their voices through the entire pit.

Appearance[]

The Tapir is dark gray and the Porcupine is light brown. The Tapir is small in size but larger than the porcupine, and the Porcupine's quills are small.

Personalities[]

The Porcupine is stoic and professional, while the Tapir is loud and bombastic, narrating events with flair. The Porcupine is shown to be mildly annoyed by the Tapir, especially when he yells in his ear.

  • Tapir Game Announcer: "A new player is coming off the bench! Is he a secret weapon?"
  • Porcupine Game Announcer: "I think it's the water boy!"
  • Tapir Game Announcer: "Roberto moves in, he shakes one, then another. Roberto, goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal!!!"
  • Porcupine Game Announcer: "We are tied in the Pit of Doom. Whoever scores next..."
  • Tapir Game Announcer: "WINS IT ALL!"
  • Porcupine Game Announcer: "Wow, the water boy's suddenly playing like a pro!"
  • Tapir Game Announcer: "It looks like the secret weapon just backfired! Let's go to Eduardo for his reaction."

Errors[]

  • The tapir is incorrectly called an aardvark in the audio description for Rio 2. This is because tapirs are found in South America and aardvarks are found in Africa.
