Dr. Monáe is a female veterinarian who appears in Rio 2. She helped heal Nigel after he suffered injuries from the plane crash at the end of Rio. She diagnosed that "he would live, but would never fly again." She is voiced by Janelle Monáe.

Dr. Monáe is tan skinned with brown eyes. She is dressed in doctor's office equipment, such as a teal outfit, veterinary gloves, and face mask.
Trivia[]
- She is the second female doctor to be seen in the Rio franchise. The first is Dr. Barbossa.
- However Dr. Barbosa is a dentist and not a veterinarian.
- She appears to be named and modeled after her own voice actress Janelle Monáe.
- She says that Nigel will never fly again. However, in Rio: Snakes Alive!, Nigel claims he could regrow his feathers if he follows a strict routine. Also, in Rio 2, Gabi stated that Nigel was able to fly a whole second, however, this is not very much progress as it has been 4 years since the plane crash.
